Over the past year the intensity of the dance world has increased and expectations continue to rise high. Dancers of all ages are experimenting with new and different ways to move their bodies to stay fresh and flexible. Our biggest concern as teachers, as well as parents, is making sure our dancers are stretching the correct way. The last thing a parent wants to hear is that their kid needs a hip replacement when they are 15! Dancers Warehouse carries a variety of dance technology from Chacott that can help a dancer grow and stay healthy.

 

The first one is the Training Sandal, available high and low for $40. We recommend the low sandal for beginners and the high for advanced dancers. This sandal naturally helps to straighten your back and strengthens your lower muscles. This training helps you hold your pelvis in the correct position and provides effective training to hold a beautiful dancer posture. 

The next one is the Balance Block. The Mingu Balance Block comes in one size and is available for $21.50. By following the example below, a dancer can work on their core, center, and balance.

With Summertime winding down, it's time to start preparing for back to school, and you know what that means: Back to Dance! This is the time of the year where Fall registration opens up and dancers are getting their classes all lined up. We love seeing all the first timers try on their first pair of ballet slippers and pick out their leotards! Their excitement to start learning and dancing is why we love what we do!
 
One of the most popular questions we receive is 'what do they need?'. Before coming into the store or shopping online, it is important that you check with your studio for dress code. No matter the age, a dress code is an important part of the dance industry. The standard for ballet classes is pink tights with a black leotard (this can vary from studio to studio). Form-fitting dance wear is also a popular requirement for jazz, modern, or lyrical classes.
 
By wearing the proper dance attire, teachers are able to visually see and help correct a dancers alignment and positioning. Dance teachers are very hands on to fix any corrections to help further the dancers interests and of course, for the safety of our dancers. Baggy clothing can be an easy distraction and could cause someone to get hurt. The simple black leo and pink tight also helps our dancers feel like dancers. They are 'dressing the part' which can make them feel more confident before walking into the studio. There is nothing more beautiful than a dancer with their head held high!
